I have read and researched the Jinma's and heard the good, the bad and the ugly but have decided to buy one based on the fact that every brand has problems and usually those with the most problems complain to these boards. The questions I have are: 1) can a 20hp, 2wd handle a loader without causing damage to the tractor? 2) what kind of traction does the 2wd w/ weights have in snow? I have a small horse farm and will use it to drag the arena, do some light lifting and move snow. I have used a 4wd JD in the past but rarely have needed to engage the 4wd and am thinking that the extra 2500 for 4wd is a waste. Please any info would be appreciated.

Well, ya gotta decide for yourself but I think 2WD CUTs will go the way of the dodo bird and if you ever want to resell yours you are limiting the number of potential buyers. JD is discontinuing many (or all?) of their 2WD CUTs because they don't sell very many of 'em.
A loader can work on most any tractor if it is sized and used properly. This is another area where 4WD is an advantage - with a full loader bucket you really want the front tires pulling.

I wouldn't do it,get the 4wd,and I have heard some negative things about farmpro on the chinese board,mine is not a farmpro,so I can't tell you anything as fact,and as we all know there is something negative said about every kind and brand.Ithink the nortrac204,4wd,with loader is about 8,500,6 months parts and labor,pretty good rep. I mean there is saving money and then there is saving money. Richard ....

CUT's lack the weight to get a lot of traction from 2wd without piling on the ballast, and ballast does add to wear and tear on a tractor.
The trouble is that with a 3ph implement the tires and wheels are about the only places to add ballast and that may not be enough for heavy draft. The trouble with loaders is that a heavy bucket reduces rear wheel traction and there's no corresponding increase in front wheel traction. However, the idea should work with enough weight on the 3ph and loaders on older 2wd farm and utility tractors are common. I imagine there's already weight on the wheels but a 3ph ballast box might be handy since keeping big ballast on a tractor when it isn't needed has some downsides. The idea is limited by the tractor's 3ph capacity. ....

All of the above are good opinions. I am going to add another. The difference in price that you have between a 2 and a 4 wheel drive can be reduced by shopping around. As a base reference look at the China Best Products site and then other Jinma internet sites. Good luck. ....

I am a Farm Pro dealer and have sold several of the 2WD tractors, none of them with FEL. While HOmier and Koyker have tested and offer the FEL on the 2420 with turf tires and power steering I personally have avoided selling it. I suppose for very light use it might be OK, but combining it with the turf tires and no wheel weights I just cant buy into it. A FEL is so handy that sticking with the intended light use may prove difficult!. We solved the problem by importing JINMA 204s which can interchange between turf or ag tires and be set up with a loader, The price starts at just a little more than most dealers charge for the 2420 turf/loader package. In spite of what some would have you beleive, the Farm Pro is the same basic Jinma tractor sold by others. There may be some option differences (spring seats, different dash, etc). The big advantage of Farm Pro IMO is that they are national with over 140 dealer locations, they warrant parts and labor and provide us with great parts support. Well now I've probably told you more than you wanted to know, but hope it is of some help. ....

The FarmPro website shows no available implements for the 20hp 2 wheel drive. I read somewhere that there are dealers selling them but it is not recommended by
FarmPro.

Hi Mark,
The Farm Pro website doesnt show the 2420 Turf tire 2WD tractor which is the model that they put loaders on. This tractor has Power steering which makes it marginally usable with the loader. The base 2420 2WD is not suited for loaders at all, has a different front axle. I have seen the 2WD with loaders at HOmiers own shows, as i recall it had the JINMA loader on it. I did talk to one of the engineers at Koyker about this application and he said they did test it and they offer the 160 loader in a tuned down version which is what some of the other dealers are offering. Some dealers are puting the AG tires with wheel weights on the 2420TT model so there is some traction to push the loader and a little weight to keep the back end on the ground and that might be something to consider, but personally I'd spend a little more and get a 4WD for loader use on any compact, on larger utility tractors, its not so much a problem. ....
